Korea Music Drive in Festival
Internet Live Streaming

K-pop artists have been forced online this year due to the pandemic outbreak, but they would have a chance to meet fans offline through drive-in concerts, the 2020 Korea Music Drive Festival, slated for next month. The Korea Management Federation (KMF) said on August 10 that it had received the green light to hold drive-in concerts at Incheon, a port city west of Seoul, on October 31th & November 1st. The two-day event, which will take place at the metropolitan city’s International Passenger Terminal, is the fourth edition of the annual Korea Music Festival.

“In line with the government guidelines on social distancing, we decided to organize drive-in concerts,” an official preparing for the event told Korea News Plus. “It would be a new platform where K-pop stars and fans can interact in the era of the novel coronavirus. A bunch of superstars will take part in the concerts to attract attention from across the world.”

Not only idol groups, but also soloists and even trot singers will join the performances, which will be live-streamed for international fans of K-pop music, the official said. The KMF expects that more than 2,000 cars would be accepted to the concert per day. The KMF is the association that represents a total of 165 management companies based in Korea, including such big players as SM, YG, JYP, and Big Hit.
